about

This song is a sustained lyrical attack on group think at every level of society and the prioritisation of consensus among political/financial elites in the service of their interests at the expense of rationality, equality or justice. It also details how their hubris can be misplaced and that most systems of authoritarian governance sow the seeds of their own downfall through stagnation, brought about by arrogance and corruption. Another aspect of the song concerns how vast amounts of personal information are collected online through sites like Facebook and shared with third parties, not all of them with the best interests of their users at heart.

Musically this song is inspired by Metallica's And Justice for All in addition to Basil Poledouris' score for Conan the Barbarian and System of a Down's music. It is also influenced by the opening theme music for Coppola's version of Dracula.

lyrics

Indoctrinated untoucheables

Convinced of a righteous destiny

Watching your every move

A social idea that achieves mass effect

Nothing belongs to you, it belongs to them

A simulacrum in a digital domain

Politicians that trade in death

For the interests of the status quo

Navel gazing group thinkers

Legendary within their shared worlds

Two dimensional Monoliths

Walk around and they vanish

Dependent on your perspective

They need you more than you need them

When there’s limited resources within a flawed gem

A corporate persona

You use it for it aggression

Cloned authoritarian identity

Censoring thoughts to keep the pack intact

Powerful vassals totally unaware of themselves

Dutifully serving self interest

And a broken generational legacy

Consensus prioritized above reason

Enjoy your moment of pyrrhic reign

Your conditions are collapsing!

An interpretation of imperfection

Listening closely to the pulse of the void

A truth whispered by the king of lies!
